Homemade Bread Basic Recipe
Most people don't realise how easy it is to make homemade bread! This recipe is very basic and you can play with it adding seeds, mixing flours or shaping it in smaller rolls. All you need is flour, water, yeast and a little attention to detail.


Homemade Bread Basic Recipe

Ingredients

- 500 gr plain flour
- 300to 350 gr water (this varies according to the quality of flour)
- 1teaspoon of sugar
- 15 gr yeast
- 10 gr salt
- Extra Vergin Olive Oil to taste (optional)

Steps

1. Prepare the yeast: put it in a small bowl, add warm water and add the sugar to feed the yeast. It will promptly start making foamy bubbles once it activates.

2. Add your yeast to the flour: have the sifted flour in a big bowl, make a hole in the middle and pour the yeast in it. Use a fork to mix the yeast and incorporate flour little by little until the yeast is evenly spread and mixed with the flour.

3. Knead the dough: now transfer the mixture on a large table or bench, add the rest of the water with a pinch of salt and a tablespoon of olive oil and start kneading. Keep going until your dough looks smooth, homogeneous and feels soft and elastic, but not sticky (about 15 minutes)

4. Let it rise: place your dough in a container and cover with a damp tea towel. Find a dark spot to let it rise, better if himid a little hot. Leave it for a minimum of 2 hours.

5. Shape your bread loaf: gently work the dough to give it the shape you want. You can let it rise for 30 more minutes if you think you have squeezed it too much while shaping it.

6. Bake 200ยบ for approximately 30 minutes.

Making bread is easy enough, but details are essential. You'll find that you get better and better with practice.
